Phoenix, AZ (Betting Express) - Grant Green had two doubles, an RBI and a run scored to earn the MVP as the U.S. defeated the World, 6-4, at the All-Star Futures Game.

The U.S. Futures took control of the game early when Jason Kipnis led off the bottom of the first with a home run.

With runners on the corners and one out in the second, Wil Myers hit a grounder to short that could have been an inning ending double play, but he hustled down the line, beating the throw to first and allowing Devin Mesoraco to score on the play.

Gary Brown singled with two outs in the fifth, stole second and scored on a double by Green to put the U.S. ahead 3-0.

But the World Futures rallied with a four-run sixth inning against pitcher Drew Pomeranz. Alfredo Silverio launched a two-run homer and Sebastian Valle had an RBI double before Pomeranz was replaced by Kyle Gibson on the mound.

Gibson, though, allowed a run-scoring triple to Jurickson Profar before inducing an inning-ending flyout to Reymond Fuentes, keeping it a 4-3 game.

The U.S. then put together a three-run eighth inning for the lead. Green led off the frame with a double high off the center-field wall and Tim Beckham followed with a double of his own. Austin Romine brought in Beckham with a two-out single and later scored on a Nolan Arenado double.

Jacob Turner and Matt Harvey combined to pitch a perfect ninth inning to preserve the lead.
