=== Earthquakes and Galaxy complete four-player trade ===
San Jose, CA (Betting Express) - San Jose sent defender Todd Dunivant and goalkeeper Steve Cronin to Los Angeles in exchange for forward Alejandro Moreno and defender Chris Aloisi.
The clubs will also swap first-round picks in Friday's MLS SuperDraft. The Galaxy will now pick fifth while the Earthquakes fall back to sixth.
Moreno, 25, is expected to help fill the shoes of departed superstar Landon Donovan, who left San Jose for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. San Jose also recently lost midfielder Ramiro Corrales to Norwegian outfit Ham-Kam, and veteran defender Jeff Agoos, who was traded to the MetroStars.
Moreno, a Venezuelan international, appeared in 25 games for Los Angeles in 2005, scoring six goals. The three-year MLS veteran also started for the Galaxy in the 2002 championship win over New England.
"With the departures on our frontline, we needed to make a move to get a proven forward, and we think that Alejandro Moreno has proven himself the past three seasons in this league," said Earthquakes coach Dominic Kinnear.
"Over the years, he has impressed me when he has played against us and he has given us problems in those games. Now it will be nice to have him on our side."
Dunivant, a talented defender heads to Los Angeles after two season with San Jose. The 24-year-old recorded one goal and six assists in 46 games with the Earthquakes. He broke the Quakes' rookie scoring record in 2003, recording eight points.
"Losing Todd is difficult, but in order to improve our team in some areas, we have to sacrifice talent in other areas," said Kinnear."That is what happened in this case."
Aloisi will try to take Dunivant's place in San Jose. The 24-year-old started just three matches for the Galaxy last season as a rookie. Aloisi, drafted in the sixth round of the 2004 SuperDraft, was a two-time All-Big East choice at Syracuse.
"Chris Aloisi has a bright future in MLS," said Quakes president and general manager Alexi Lalas. "But we are not only looking to the future, we expect him to make an immediate impact on the field this coming season."
Cronin, 21, did not appear in a match for San Jose in the 2004 season. The Project-40 player was part of the Under-20 National Team, and was a first-team All-West Coast Conference goalkeeper while at Santa Clara in 2003.
