Arlington, TX (Betting Express) - The Texas Rangers have signed pitcher Chris Young to a three-year contract with a club option for the 2008 season. Financial terms were not disclosed. Young made his major league debut this past August 24 and started seven games for the Rangers this season. He finished with a record of 3-2 and a 4.71 earned run average. The 25-year-old righthander combined for a 9-5 mark and a 3.72 ERA in 23 starts for Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Oklahoma before being recalled by Texas. "We have said in the past we want to keep our young players in our organization," said Rangers general manager John Hart. "Chris pitched well last season and we look forward to him building on those successes in the future." Young, who was acquired from the Montreal organization before the 2004 season, beat the Boston Red Sox for his first major league win on September 4 and was 2-0 in his last three starts. The 6-foot-10 Dallas native played baseball and basketball at Princeton.
