=== ChiSox's Garland agrees to one-year deal === Chicago, IL (Betting Express) - Chicago White Sox pitcher Jon Garland has agreed to a one-year, $3.4 million contract, avoiding salary arbitration. Garland was 12-11 with a 4.89 earned run average in 34 games, including 33 starts, for the White Sox this past season. He set a career high with 113 strikeouts and eclipsed the 200-inning plateau for the first time. The righthander has won 12 games in each of the past three seasons and has a career mark of 46-51 with a 4.68 ERA in five big league campaigns -- all with the White Sox. Chicago also made a number of other roster moves Friday, purchasing the contracts of infielder Pedro Lopez and pitchers Kris Honel and Matt Smith from Double-A Birmingham, and infielder Casey Rogowski and pitchers Sean Tracey and Paulino Reynoso from Class-A Winston-Salem. |
