Wolfsburg, Germany (Betting Express) - Belgian international defender Peter Van der Heyden will leave Club Brugge to join Wolfsburg at the end of the season. Van der Heyden, 28, will join the Bundesliga leaders on a free transfer after refusing to resign with Belgian outfit Club Brugge. He is expected to sign a three-year contract that will begin in July of 2005. Van der Heyden, who has made 13 appearances for his country, will be reunited with Wolfsburg's Belgian coach Erik Gerets. "I know the player very well," said Gerets. "He will be a good reinforcement especially because of his attitude. He is an outstanding footballer and I am happy about this move." Club Brugge, the Belgian league leaders, have reached the group stage of the UEFA Cup, but lost its opener against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 3-2. Wolfsburg has had a dream start to the season, leading the Bundesliga with 24 points from 11 matches.
