Athens, Greece (Betting Express) - Super heavyweight Jason Estrada became the latest American boxing casualty in Athens when he was defeated by Cuban Michel Lopez Nunez in quarterfinal action on Monday. Estrada, who beat Nunez to win gold at the 2003 Pan American Games, was outpointed from the beginning by the Cuban on the way to a 21-7 defeat. He fell behind 7-1 after the first round, with only flurries of action highlighting the two minutes. The first point of the second round didn't come until there was 1:00 remaining, and it went to Estrada. Nunez upped his advantage to six points later at 9-3, but Estrada pulled within 9-4 by knocking the Cuban on his back with a right cross. The round ended shortly after, and Nunez took control of the bout with four straight points to open the third, pushing his lead to 13-4. Estrada scored a point with just five seconds left in the frame to get within nine, but he would never be closer than that. Estrada's loss leaves the Americans with just two boxers remaining in competition: middleweight Andre Dirrell and light heavyweight Andre Ward.
