Minneapolis, MN (Betting Express) - The Minnesota Lynx announced Friday that they have executed a sign-and-trade deal with the Los Angeles Sparks, acquiring forward Christi Thomas in exchange for center Vanessa Hayden- Johnson. Thomas, the 12th overall selection in the 2004 WNBA draft, joins the Lynx having averaged 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game in her five-year career. "We're really excited about the versatility that Christi brings to our roster," said Lynx executive vice president Roger Griffith. "When given the opportunity, Christi has proven she can help a team with her ability to shoot the ball and defend the post. We thank Vanessa for what she's added to our organization the last five years and we wish her the best of luck in Los Angeles." Hayden-Johnson, who entered the offseason as a restricted free agent, holds career averages of six points and 3.8 rebounds in 13.6 minutes in 123 career games, all with the Lynx. The seventh overall selection in the 2004 draft, Hayden-Johnson sat out the entire 2007 season before averaging 5.2 points and 3.5 boards in 2008.
