Cleveland, OH (Betting Express) - The Cleveland Indians will roll the dice on Carl Pavano after signing the right-hander to a one-year deal Tuesday. Financial terms of the contract were not released. Pavano just completed an injury-plagued four-year, $40 million stint with the New York Yankees, appearing in just 26 games and missing the entire 2006 campaign due to injury. Pavano compiled a 4-2 record with a 5.77 ERA over 34 1/3 frames through seven starts in 2008. The 6-5, 241-pound Pavano underwent reconstructive surgery on his right elbow in June of the 2007 season, and owns a 66-66 mark with a 4.32 ERA in 193 games, 175 of which have been starts, over his career with Montreal, Florida and New York. In a related move, the Indians are expected to designate infielder Michael Aubrey for assignment to make roster space for the oft-injured Pavano.
