(Betting Express) - Coming off an impressive win over the best team in the Eastern Conference, the Buffalo Sabres will aim for a third consecutive victory when they host the Ottawa Senators in tonight's Northeast Division clash at HSBC Arena.

The Sabres improved to 2-0 in 2009 by downing the Boston Bruins on Saturday, ending the Eastern Conference and Northeast leaders' 10-game winning streak. Buffalo is 3-2-0 against the rival Bruins this season.

Matt Ellis scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Sabres to the 4-2 win at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden. Buffalo also snapped the Bruins' 14-game home winning streak.

Thomas Vanek and Paul Gaustad also scored for the Sabres, while Ryan Miller made 29 saves in the victory. Jason Pominville also picked up a pair of assists for Buffalo.

Prior to winning back-to-back games, the Sabres had lost four of their previous five contests. Tonight Buffalo will aim for its first three-game winning streak since December 6-10.

The Sabres are 10-9-2 as the host this year and have lost four of their last six in western New York. Buffalo will also host the New York Rangers on Friday before embarking on a three-game road trip.

Meanwhile, the Senators have begun the 2009 calendar year with back-to-back losses and have tasted defeat in five of their last six outings.

After losing 3-1 in Toronto on Saturday, Ottawa was handed an overtime loss the following day at New Jersey. Brian Rolston's power-play goal 1:43 into OT lifted the Devils to the 4-3 decision at the Prudential Center.

Brendan Bell, Chris Kelly and Nick Foligno each scored once for Ottawa, which fell to 1-4-1 on its season-long eight-game road trip. Alex Auld made 31 saves for the Senators in the loss.

The Sens have a dreadful 4-12-3 record as the visiting team this season and will cap their trek Thursday in Boston. Ottawa has lost 14 of its last 15 games away from Canada's capital city.

Ottawa won the first of six matchups with the Sabres this season, earning a 5-2 decision in Buffalo on October 27. The Sens have taken two of three and five of the last seven meetings overall as well as four straight at HSBC Arena.
