Lubbock, TX (Betting Express) - Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will pay him over $1 million per year through the 2008 season.

"I am pleased that Mike has signed an extension to his contract to coach the Red Raiders through the 2008 season," Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers said. "Mike has done an outstanding job of building an exciting program for our students, alumni and fans. We are looking forward to many years of Red Raider football under Coach Leach and his staff."

Leach holds a 22-16 record in his four seasons at the school, leading the program to four straight bowl appearances.

Nationally, Leach's offense continues to lead the NCAA, having won passing titles in 2002 and 2003 and the total offense title in 2003. His program has produced the nation's leading quarterback each of the last two seasons, including B.J. Symons, who set the NCAA single-season passing yardage record in 2003.
