Pittsburgh, PA (Betting Express) - Assault charges against Pittsburgh quarterback Rod Rutherford were dismissed Tuesday. Rutherford had been charged with assaulting a woman outside a nightclub back in September. He was also charged with kicking out a car window. The woman declined to pursue the charges against Rutherford. According to the initial complaint, the woman said that Rutherford was in a car with her and two friends, and made advances toward her. She claimed that he got out of the vehicle and grabbed her arm, trying to remove her from the car when she rejected his advances. The woman further claimed that Rutherford then shattered a car window with his foot as she drove away, with the woman being hit with some of the broken glass. A 2003 semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterbacks Award, Rutherford passed for 3,227 yards and 33 touchdowns for the Panthers this past season.
