Ottawa, ON (Betting Express) - Mike Fisher scored a pair of goals -- including the deciding marker late in the third -- to guide the Ottawa Senators past the Boston Bruins, 3-2, at Scotiabank Place in the opener of a home-and- home series.

Joseph Corvo donated three assists and Dany Heatley had the other goal and added a helper for the Senators, who have won six straight and are 11-1-0 on the season, tops in the Eastern Conference.

The Senators are 4-0 this year in games decided by a goal.

"Part of it may be the experience and struggle we had last year in one-goal games," Fisher said. "We've had some time to work on conditioning and we could kind of feel like we were feeling good after the second period and heading into the third. We were skating well. We were wearing them down a bit, we could feel that. In third periods we've been solid all year which gives us confidence that we can pull out games like this."

Martin Gerber turned away 17 shots in a winning effort.

Chuck Kobasew netted two goals to pace the Bruin attack and Tim Thomas made 43 saves for Boston, which has dropped three of five.

"There's a reason they are 11-1," Thomas said. "They're a tough team to play against. We could have done a better job. I believe everyone on the team will agree we didn't play our best game this year. After saying that we were still in it all the way. Hopefully we can come up with a better game tomorrow."

The second installment of this home-and-home will be played in Boston on Sunday night

Ottawa struck first 4:16 into the contest, as Fisher collected a loose puck in front and backhanded it past Thomas with the Sens skating on the man- advantage.

Kobasew lit the lamp 1:04 into the second, then struck again less than four minutes later by punching the puck out of midair and into an open left side of the net.

Heatley knotted the game at 2-2 midway through the second stanza, though, blasting a one-timer from the right circle that zipped past Thomas.

The score remained tied until the 13:49 mark of the third. With Ottawa again on the power play, and with heavy action in front of the Boston net, Fisher found the puck in the slot and slipped it into the back of the cage to put Ottawa back in front.

Gerber stopped all eight shots he faced in the third to preserve the win.

This is Ottawa's first six-game winning streak since November 17-29, 2005...The Bruins are 3-4-0 as the visiting team this season.
