Detroit, MI (Betting Express) - The Detroit Tigers optioned pitcher Steve Avery to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday to make room for left hander Eric Eckenstahler, who was recalled from the Mud Hens. Avery was 2-0 with a 5.63 ERA in 19 games since his contract was purchased from Toledo on May 9th. The 33-year-old was the MVP of the 1991 National League Championship Series and appeared in the World Series four times with the Braves. He is 96-83 in 297 career games. Eckenstahler went 3-5 with a 2.66 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36 games for the Mud Hens this season.
