Boston, MA (Betting Express) - Boston Bruins defenseman Jonathan Girard broke his pelvis in a car accident and was in stable condition Friday. Bruins general manager Mike O'Connell told The Boston Globe that Girard lost control of his car near his hometown of Rawdon, Quebec. "I have been in contact with Jonathan's agent (Bob Sauve) and my understanding is that Jonathan was driving when the car went off the road and the accident occurred," O'Connell said through a released statement. "He suffered a broken pelvis in four places and some blood loss," O'Connell added. "He is in stable condition and I understand that he is doing better this morning. My understanding is that Jonathan will need surgery." Girard had six goals and 16 assists in 73 games for the Bruins last season and signed a one-year contract earlier this year. Boston drafted Girard with its first pick (48th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. In 150 NHL games, Girard has 10 goals and 34 assists.
