Florida Marlins Team Report - July 6 ===
(Betting Express) - The red-hot Marlins attempt to bring out the brooms this afternoon, looking to sweep the Philadelphia Phillies for the first time since 2000.
Florida last swept the Phillies in the final series of the 2000 campaign, which went from September 29 - October 1. Florida continued its success against the Phillies on Saturday with a 5-4 win. The Marlins have won four straight meetings between these clubs, matching a club record set in 2000.
Ivan Rodriguez drove in two runs with a homer and an RBI single to anchor the offensive attack for the Marlins. Rodriguez has hit in 10 of his last 11 games.
Miguel Cabrera also homered and had three hits for the Marlins, who have won four of their last five games. Florida is 26-14 since May 23, the best record in the NL East during that span.
Brad Penny threw seven strong innings in the victory for the Marlins. Penny (7-6) allowed two runs - one earned - on five hits. The righthander, who threw a season-high 116 pitches, struck out six and walked three.
Braden Looper, who blew a save before picking up the win in Friday's game, pitched a scoreless ninth for his 15th save.
Marlins manager Jack McKeon, who replaced Jeff Torborg earlier in the season, notched his 799th career win. Florida is 29-21 since McKeon took over.
The Marlins will send 29-year-old lefthander Mark Redman to the hill this afternoon. Redman has won five of his last six decisions, including a terrific outing against Atlanta on Monday. The lefty limited the Braves to only five hits and a run over a complete game victory. He struck out two and walked one in the contest.
Redman tossed his first career game against the Phillies on April 3, allowing seven hits and two runs -- one earned -- over six innings in a win. The lefty has been solid on the road this year, going 3-1 with a 2.46 ERA.
The Marlins own a slight 5-4 advantage in the 2003 series between the clubs.
