Chicago, IL (Betting Express) - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a three-year, $3.25 million contract with pitcher Matt Thornton and a one- year, $1.25 million deal with infielder/outfielder Pablo Ozuna on Sunday. The 30-year old Thornton, whose contract includes club options for 2010 and 2011, finished 5-3 with a 3.33 earned run average and 49 strikeouts in 63 appearances last season. He also held opponents to a .229 average and lefties to a .211 mark. Thornton was Seattle's first-round draft selection in 1998 and was acquired by Chicago on March, 20 2006 in exchange for outfielder Joe Borchard. He has recorded a 6-9 record with a 4.26 ERA with 136 strikeouts in 137 games (one start) with the Mariners (2004-05) and the White Sox. Ozuna, who has a club option for 2009, is coming off a terrific 2006 season in which the versatile 32-year-old batted .328 with two home runs, 17 RBI and six steals in 79 games. He started games at left field, third base and second base last year. The Dominican native signed with the White Sox as a free agent prior to the 2005 season and hit .276 with 11 RBI and a career-high 14 stolen bases in 70 games during his first year with the club. Ozuna, who has also spent time with Florida and Colorado, is a .292 career hitter over parts of five major-league seasons.
