Chicago, IL (Betting Express) - The San Diego Padres recalled pitcher Kevin Jarvis from his rehab assignment and reinstated the righthander from the 60- day disabled list. Jarvis pitched in Friday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox. Jarvis lasted five innings and surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on six hits. He also struck one batter and issued a walk in the no decision. It was his first major league action since July 2, 2002. Jarvis had arthroscopic surgery to his right elbow last July and had been on the disabled list ever since. The 33-year-old Jarvis compiled a 2-1 record with a 4.09 ERA in three starts for Lake Elsinore. Jarvis has also spent time with Cincinnati, Minnesota, Detroit, Oakland and Colorado. His best season was in 2001, when we finished 12-11 with a 4.79 ERA. Meanwhile, the club recalled lefthander Oliver Perez from Triple-A Portland. San Diego also outrighted righthander Carlton Loewer and optioned righty Brian Tollberg to Portland.
