Lake Forest, IL (Betting Express) - Veteran quarterback Chris Chandler will make his first start of the season for the Bears this Sunday when Chicago visits the Detroit Lions. Chandler, in his 15th NFL season, will take over for Jim Miller, who continues to be bothered by tendinitis in his right elbow and shoulder. Miller, who has started 14 consecutive regular-season contests, was listed as questionable after tossing lightly on the side on Thursday. However, he was barely able to get through stretching exercises on Friday. Chicago coach Dick Jauron is hopeful that Miller can serve as the backup on Sunday. Miller said he unknowingly played with the problem for the past few games and underwent an MRI exam on Tuesday, which determined the severity of the injury. He has completed 58.8 percent of his passes this season for 1,217 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. Chandler again practiced with the first-team offense on Friday. He was signed as a free agent in the off-season after spending the last five years with Atlanta. Chandler has thrown for 25,948 yards during his career with 161 touchdowns and 127 interceptions The Bears are 2-3 heading into Sunday's game against the 1-4 Lions.
