Indianapolis, IN (Betting Express) - Current IndyCar Series champion Dan Wheldon announced on Monday that he was leaving the Andretti Green Racing team for a seat at Chip Ganassi Racing. Wheldon will team with 2003 IndyCar champion Scott Dixon behind the wheel of a Honda-powered Dallara chassis. Last year Ganassi drivers used a Toyota-Panoz. The team fielded three cars in 2005 and Dixon's 13th place series finish was the best it could do. Wheldon won a series record six times, including the 2005 Indianapolis 500, and was the first Honda driver to win at Twin Ring in Motegi, Japan (Honda's home track). In 17 events the Englishman finished outside the top-six just twice, both due to mechanical failures. Wheldon's nine series wins (all with AGR) are second all-time behind Sam Hornish Jr.
