Sanchez, Jets offense struggle in loss to Redskins Headlines 08/27/2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets' offense sputtered again.

They at least left the game against the Washington Redskins on a positive note.

Sanchez connected with Dustin Keller for a 10-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, capping a 15-play drive that gave New York a lead before Washington came back to win a snoozer 16-11 on Friday night.

Larry Johnson, competing with Clinton Portis and Willie Parker for a spot in the backfield for the Redskins (2-1), caught a screen p

Top to bottom, Shanahan takes charge of Redskins Headlines 08/27/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Less than a month after taking the job of Washington Redskins coach, Mike Shanahan called a meeting.

A big meeting. Everyone who works for the franchise was invited, from secretaries to marketing people to the employees based at the stadium on the other side of D.C. The only people not there were the players, who were off because it was February.

It took place in the Redskins Park auditorium and lasted about an hour. Shanahan gave a power point presentation of some 50 points he thought w

Redskins' Armstrong had 'very scenic' route to NFL Headlines 08/25/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Receiver Anthony Armstrong says he's taken a ``very scenic'' route to the Washington Redskins.

No one will argue with that. Armstrong went from West Texas A&M to something called the Intense Football League. From there he went to the Arena Football League before spending 2008 on the Miami Dolphins practice squad.

Now he's the leading receiver during the preseason with the Redskins, a long-shot speedster making a surprisingly strong bid for a roster spot.

Armstrong says he embraces

McNabb won't play in Friday's preseason game NFL Football 08/24/2010
Ashburn, VA (BettingExpress) - The Washington Redskins have ruled out quarterback Donovan McNabb for Friday's preseason game against the Jets due to a sprained ankle suffered during Saturday's exhibition tilt. Rex Grossman is expected to start under center in place of McNabb, who sat out Tuesday's practice with his ankle wrapped. McNabb has thrown for 264 yards with one touchdown and one interception on 16- of-34 efficiency in two preseason games with his new club. The longtime Eagles signal-caller has played in
Sprained ankle rules McNabb out for Redskins-Jets NFL Football 08/24/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb will miss Friday's game against the New York Jets because of a sprained left ankle.

McNabb has been unable to practice since getting hurt in Saturday night's preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

McNabb watched Tuesday's workout with a wrap around his ankle and wearing a baseball cap.

Coach Mike Shanahan says the ankle is ``quite sore'' and that McNabb probably wouldn't be able to play if it were a regular season game.Copyright © 20

Injuries keep KOing Cowboys; Dez to miss next game Headlines 08/23/2010
d Monday that he won't be playing against Houston on Saturday night. That leaves only the preseason finale next Thursday against Miami.

``It's very frustrating,'' Bryant said. ``At the same time, I've got to look at the big picture, and that's the Washington Redskins.''

Bryant ran and cut Monday for the first time since the injury. He also went over routes on the field with receiver coach Ray Sherman before practice, then afterward with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

``I feel great,'' said Bryant, addi

Redskins S Moore has knee surgery, out 4-6 weeks NFL Football 08/23/2010
Ashburn, VA (BettingExpress) - Washington Redskins safety Kareem Moore underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday and is likely to miss four to six weeks worth of action. Moore was expected to start in Washington's defensive backfield this year, but his injury, which was suffered making a tackle on a fake punt in Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens, has given Reed Doughty and Chris Horton a chance to slide into his spot. The 26-year-old Moore played in all 16 games for Washington last season -- his se
Shanahan has private meeting with Haynesworth NFL Football 08/23/2010
Washington, DC (BettingExpress) - The offseason drama involving Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth continued Monday, as head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed that he "had a conversation" with the two-time Pro Bowl selection. This all comes following a report in the Washington Post on Sunday night, which said that Haynesworth was sidelined last week with a mild case of rhabdomyolysis, a condition marked by the breakdown of skeletal muscle and the release of myoglobin in the bloodstream. "I'm not
Shanahan meets with Haynesworth, keeps it private Headlines 08/23/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says it's ``completely ridiculous'' to keep talking about his squabbles with Albert Haynesworth.

Shanahan says he spoke with the disgruntled two-time All-Pro defensive tackle Monday, but the coach declined to respond to the strong words uttered by Haynesworth following Saturday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Meanwhile, Haynesworth returned to practice Monday. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett says Haynesworth was still working with the backups but

Redskins FS Moore out 4-6 weeks after knee surgery NFL Football 08/23/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -Washington Redskins free safety Kareem Moore will be sidelined four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his sprained right knee.

The third-year player had an arthroscopic procedure Monday, two days after he was hurt in the Redskins' preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He was injured defending a fake punt and went down without contact.

Moore had been one of the pleasant surprises of training camp, moving into a starting role after two seasons as a backup.
