ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins placed Malcolm Kelly on injured reserve Tuesday, robbing the team of a big target receiver because of an ailing hamstring that wasn't to heal anytime soon. There was better news regarding Donovan McNabb and Clinton Portis. Portis practiced for the first time since spraining his right ankle last week against the New York Jets. McNabb was still sidelined but was no longer wearing a compression stocking over his sprained left ankle, and offensive coordinator Kyle Shana |

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - It's been a bit of a novelty watching the Washington Redskins' defense in preseason. The players are getting their hands on the ball - and they're actually holding on to it. The Redskins have forced eight turnovers in three preseason games. That's a promising trend for a team that finished last in takeaways last season. Players attribute the turnabout to the 3-4 defense run by new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett. Cornerback DeAngelo Hall notes the team hasn't run the full defense yet |

ASHBURN, Va. After two long flights - from his native Texas to D.C., then on to Arizona - Kelly didn't stretch enough and pulled his left hamstring at McNabb's workout. Kelly was able to practice only one day during the entire three weeks o |

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Redskins may finally have a truce of sorts between Albert Haynesworth and Mike Shanahan. For the first time this preseason, Haynesworth wasn't critical of the coach following a game. The defensive lineman even joked about going to the coach's house to have dinner and a cigar. The Shanahan-Haynesworth tit-for-tat has overshadowed Washington's preparations for the regular season, but Haynesworth finally got his chance to play with the starters for much of Friday night's 16-11 |
