Redskins' Kelly on IR; good news on McNabb, Portis NFL Football 08/31/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins placed Malcolm Kelly on injured reserve Tuesday, robbing the team of a big target receiver because of an ailing hamstring that wasn't to heal anytime soon.

There was better news regarding Donovan McNabb and Clinton Portis. Portis practiced for the first time since spraining his right ankle last week against the New York Jets. McNabb was still sidelined but was no longer wearing a compression stocking over his sprained left ankle, and offensive coordinator Kyle Shana

Redskins put WR Kelly on IR with hamstring injury Headlines 08/31/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins have placed Malcolm Kelly on injured reserve, ruling the third-year receiver out for the year.

Kelly pulled his left hamstring before the start of training camp and has reinjured it multiple times since then.

Kelly caught 25 passes for 347 yards last year.

Meanwhile, running back Clinton Portis practiced Tuesday for the first time since spraining his right ankle last week against the New York Jets.

Donovan McNabb remained sidelined with a sprained his left ank

Redskins take away things with Haslett's defense NFL Football 08/30/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - It's been a bit of a novelty watching the Washington Redskins' defense in preseason. The players are getting their hands on the ball - and they're actually holding on to it.

The Redskins have forced eight turnovers in three preseason games. That's a promising trend for a team that finished last in takeaways last season.

Players attribute the turnabout to the 3-4 defense run by new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall notes the team hasn't run the full defense yet

Redskins WR Malcolm Kelly reinjures hamstring Headlines 08/30/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins receiver Malcolm Kelly has had a setback in his attempt to return from a hamstring injury.

Kelly pulled his left hamstring again Monday in his first practice since the early days of training camp. Kelly won't play in Thursday's preseason finale and is now a candidate for injured reserve.

Donovan McNabb and Clinton Portis remain unable to practice, each with a sprained ankle. McNabb again wore a compression stocking on his left leg as he watched the workout. Neither wa

1 week left for Redskins' WR Kelly to make roster NFL Football 08/29/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Malcolm Kelly figured he'd be getting a good head start when he flew to Arizona to work out with Donovan McNabb and other receivers the week before the Washington Redskins opened training camp.

It turned out to be a trip that could cost Kelly his spot on the team.

After two long flights - from his native Texas to D.C., then on to Arizona - Kelly didn't stretch enough and pulled his left hamstring at McNabb's workout. Kelly was able to practice only one day during the entire three weeks o

1 week left for Redskins WR Kelly to make roster NFL Football 08/29/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Malcolm Kelly has one week to show he belongs on the Washington Redskins' roster.

Kelly pulled his left hamstring working out with Donovan McNabb in Arizona the week before training camp opened. Kelly missed the first three preseason games and has fallen behind other receivers as the Redskins look ahead to the final roster cuts on Saturday.

Kelly was on the field for Sunday's light practice and plans to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals. The third-year rec

Jets LB Pace has broken foot, could be out six weeks NFL Football 08/29/2010
Jets linebacker Calvin Pace has a broken foot which will cause him to miss the team's September 13 season opener against Baltimore. According to the Jets official Twitter page, Pace will undergo surgery on Monday in Charlotte, NC. The injury took place in Friday's preseason game against the Washington Redskins and, according to the New York Daily News, might keep the 29-year-old off the field for six weeks. Pace led a strong Jets pass rush last season with eight sacks in 12 games, while also recording 55 tackles.
Shanahan unsure on McNabb for Redskins' opener NFL Football 08/29/2010

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Donovan McNabb's ankle is too sore for him to play in the Washington Redskins' last preseason game, and coach Mike Shanahan isn't saying for certain whether the quarterback will be ready in time for the regular-season opener against Dallas.

McNabb sprained his left ankle in the second preseason game against Baltimore and sat out Friday's game against the New York Jets.

Shanahan said Sunday that McNabb is day to day. The coach doesn't ``know for sure'' whether McNabb will be ready to face

Report: Jets LB Pace has broken foot, out six weeks NFL Football 08/29/2010
New York, NY (BettingExpress) - New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace reportedly has a broken foot and will be out of action for about six weeks. The New York Daily News cited an unnamed source in reporting Sunday that Pace suffered the broken right foot in Friday's preseason game against the Washington Redskins. Pace led a strong Jets pass rush last season with eight sacks in 12 games, while also recording 55 tackles.
Haynesworth's nice act is win for Redskins Headlines 08/28/2010

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Redskins may finally have a truce of sorts between Albert Haynesworth and Mike Shanahan.

For the first time this preseason, Haynesworth wasn't critical of the coach following a game. The defensive lineman even joked about going to the coach's house to have dinner and a cigar.

The Shanahan-Haynesworth tit-for-tat has overshadowed Washington's preparations for the regular season, but Haynesworth finally got his chance to play with the starters for much of Friday night's 16-11
