San Diego, CA (BettingExpress) - The San Diego Chargers have signed safety Paul Oliver to a one-year contract. The team announced the signing Wednesday, also placing rookie linebacker Jonas Mouton on injured reserve. The New Orleans Saints signed Oliver, but released him after training camp.
Brady, Pats in control again, subdue Chargers NFL Football 09/18/2011
Foxboro, MA (BettingExpress) - Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes, BenJarvus Green-Ellis added a score on the ground and the New England Patriots opened the home portion of their 2011 schedule with a 35-21 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Coming off a franchise-best 517 yards through the air last Monday in Miami, Brady finished with "only" 423 yards against San Diego while converting 31- of-40 passes. Brady completed at least one throw to seven different receivers, with Deion Branch amassing 129 yards on
Chargers fall to New England 35-21 NFL Football 09/18/2011

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - The San Diego Chargers certainly had their chances in New England.

They just seemed to give the Patriots more and sometimes better opportunities.

Four turnovers and three drives deep into New England territory that resulted in no points added up to too many mistakes against Tom Brady and the Patriots, who capitalized on the Chargers' miscues in a 35-21 win Sunday.

``You can go down the list. We all contributed to this loss in different ways,'' said Philip Rivers, who threw for 37

l offense, since the Patriots have delivered plenty of prolific game during his 10 years in the league. He could be witnessing similar results on Sunday, when the Patriots celebrate their 2011 home opener with a matchup against Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers at Gillette Stadium. Ochocinco was quickly chastised by former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi for his tweet, with the current NFL analyst responding by telling New England's new wideout to "stop tweeting and get in your playbook," among other thin
New kicker Nick Novak familiar with Chargers NFL Football 09/14/2011

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Veteran kicker Nick Novak figures he won the job with the San Diego Chargers because of familiarity.

Novak signed a two-year contract after beating out two other kickers on Tuesday. He went through his first practice with the Bolts on Wednesday. Novak was in camp with the Chargers in 2010.

Novak replaces Nate Kaeding, who is out for the year after injuring his left knee on the season's opening kickoff on Sunday.

Novak says he knows the Chargers were used to a high level of consistency fr

alo getting off to a 4-0 start prior to losing nine of its next 12 tilts the next year. Of perhaps greater significance to a team's future playoff prospects is losing during the early stages of a season, a potentially-crippling circumstance that the San Diego Chargers can certainly attest to. Since 1990, less than 15 percent of clubs that started out 0-2 have rebounded to make the postseason. Those frighteningly low odds make this an important weekend for the likes of Atlanta, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Pittsb
49ers sign TE Peelle NFL Football 09/13/2011
Santa Clara, CA (BettingExpress) - The San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran tight end Justin Peelle to a one-year contract. The 32-year-old Peelle, a fourth-round draft choice by the San Diego Chargers in 2002, had played the previous three seasons for Atlanta. He had 10 catches for 96 yards and a touchdown in 2010.
