| Sunrise, FL (BettingExpress) - The Florida Panthers agreed to terms on a three-year contract with highly-touted defenseman Jay Bouwmeester Monday. Bouwmeester, the third player selected at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, will receive a reported $1.185 million per-season in base salary and can earn additional performance incentives. The 6-4, 210 pounder had until 3 p.m. (et) Monday to get a deal done with Florida or he would have had to return to the Medicine Hat Tigers, his junior club in the Western Hockey League. |

| Sunrise, FL (BettingExpress) - The Florida Panthers have re-assigned goaltender Wade Flaherty to their minor-league affiliate. He will join the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. Flaherty was 0-3 with a 4.34 goals-against average in three games this pre- season. He spent most of last season in the minors and played just four games with the Panthers, posting a 2.94 GAA in that span. The Senators dealt the 27-year-old netminder before likely losing him in Friday's NHL waiver draft.
