Broncos sign QB Kyle Orton to extension NFL Football 08/19/2010

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -The Denver Broncos have signed quarterback Kyle Orton to a long-term contract extension, throwing a wrench into rookie Tim Tebow's designs on taking away his starting job any time soon.

Coach Josh McDaniels said in a statement Thursday night that Orton's ``leadership and knowledge of the offense have enabled him to have a solid offseason and training camp.''

Orton joined the Broncos last year from Chicago in the Jay Cutler trade and had his best statistical season despite two bum

Broncos sign DL Hunter NFL Football 08/19/2010
Englewood, CO (BettingExpress) - The Denver Broncos added depth to their defensive line on Thursday, signing free agent Jason Hunter. The 26-year-old Hunter was released by Detroit on Monday. The Appalachian State product enjoyed a career season with the Lions in 2009, recording 34 tackles and five sacks in 14 games, including nine starts. The 6-foot-4, 271-pounder has compiled 66 tackles and seven sacks over 56 career games with the Packers and Lions.
Broncos' QB Tebow misses 2nd straight practice Headlines 08/19/2010

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -Tim Tebow is missing his second straight practice, putting his home preseason debut in question.

The Denver Broncos' rookie quarterback apparently suffered bruised ribs in his first pro game Sunday night at Cincinnati when Bengals linebacker Abdul Hodge blasted him in his left side as he was scrambling for the score on the game's final play.

Tebow practiced 48 hours later, although he skipped the post-practice sprints that he usually wins. He left the field Wednesday during warmu

Tebow leaves practice for undisclosed reasons NFL Football 08/18/2010

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -Tim Tebow missed his first practice of training camp after jogging off the field during warmups on Wednesday.

The Denver Broncos aren't saying why the rookie quarterback from Florida had to leave the workout.

Tebow, who didn't participate in wind sprints after either of Tuesday's practices, huddled with head athletic trainer Steve Antonopulos shortly after warmups began Wednesday afternoon and then jogged off the field and into the team's headquarters.

He didn't return, and the

disproved the notion that a receiver can't thrive in Georgia Tech's spread option offense.

Stephen Hill wants to prove Thomas' success wasn't a fluke.

The spread option is a run-first offense, but ``Bay-Bay'' Thomas was a first-round pick of the Denver Broncos this year after his 46 receptions for 1,154 yards and eight TDs in 2009. Thomas was the second Georgia Tech receiver in four years to be picked in the first round of the NFL draft. Calvin Johnson was the No. 2 overall pick by Detroit in 2007.

The Redskins had plenty of both following a dreadful 4-12 season that signaled the end of the ill-fated two-year run of Jim Zorn as head coach. Among the new faces is offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, who was Carroll's assistant head coach of the offense last year at USC, one season after serving as the Denver Broncos' quarterbacks coach. Broncos sign RB Fargas NFL Football 08/11/2010
Englewood, CO (BettingExpress) - The Denver Broncos have signed free agent running back Justin Fargas. Fargas spent his first seven NFL seasons playing for division rival Oakland before being released in the offseason. The team indicated he had failed a physical at the time, but the veteran was also due to receive a $1.7 million roster bonus. The move can be viewed as insurance against current Denver backs Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter, who were both injured on the Broncos' first day of training cam
Banged-up Broncos bring in Fargas NFL Football 08/11/2010

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -With their top three tailbacks sidelined, the Denver Broncos have signed veteran free agent Justin Fargas.

The 30-year-old Fargas spent his first seven seasons in Oakland after the Raiders drafted him in the third round out of Southern Cal in 2003. He failed his physical with the Raiders in March because of a knee injury.

The oft-injured Fargas has been a force when healthy. He's rushed for 3,369 yards on 827 career carries for a 4.1-yard average and 10 touchdowns. He's also caug
