| Phoenix, AZ (BettingExpress) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Chad Qualls, as they signed the reliever to a one-year deal on Tuesday. The Arizona Republic reports that he will make $2.35 million this season. Qualls, who was acquired from Houston prior to the start of last season, appeared in 77 games for the Diamondbacks in 2008 and was 4-8 with a 2.81 earned run average.
